Architectural Grandeur
Constructed in the early 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, Chandra Mahal is an exquisite example of Rajput and Mughal architecture. The palace features beautifully carved balconies, domed rooftops, and intricately designed interiors, showcasing the royal family’s artistic taste.
Each of the seven floors of Chandra Mahal has its own unique name and significance:
- Sukh Niwas (House of Joy)
- Rang Mandir (Temple of Colors)
- Shobha Niwas (House of Beauty)
- Chavi Niwas (House of Mirrors)
- Sri Niwas (House of Devotion) Peacock Gate and The CourtyardsAs part of the City Palace complex, Chandra Mahal is surrounded by beautiful courtyards and gates. One of the most famous attractions is the Peacock Gate, a magnificent example of intricate Rajasthani artistry.
